Certified Herbalist and Nutritionist
After over 2,000 hours of clinical training in medical herbalism and nutrition, Catie became certified as a clinical herbalist and nutritionist in 2010 through the North American Institute of Medical Herbalism in Boulder, Colorado.
In addition to her ongoing personal studies in the fields of medical herbalism and nutrition, she has recently (2018) completed the nine-month Integrative and Functional Medicine Professional Training Program through the New Medicine for Women Institute with Dr. Aviva Romm.
She is a current student at the University of Western States, earning a Masters of Science in Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine and looks forward to helping a wider spectrum of folks needing healing support.
Catie worked with HAALo (Health Alternatives for All Locals) in Nevada City California as a community, clinical herbalist helping many people with a wide array of health issues. These years were a pivotal part of her continuing education and integration into the community.
She maintained a small practice in Nevada City since 2010 and is now based in Montpelier, Vermont.
Catie is a proud member of the American Herbalists Guild, the Institute for Functional Medicine and a professional member of the American Nutrition Association.
Catie created Harvesting Vitality Herbal Honey Elixirs in 2011, a unique herbal business which has evolved into a very sweet, medicinal offering to many people.
Catie came to find herbal medicine as her true life calling only after her undergraduate studies in cultural anthropology and environmental studies and her graduate work, specializing in food and garden-based sustainability education.
Her love for global adventures brought her to live and learn in many unique communities around the world. Whether through her work in ecological education, ethnographic research and travels or simply through her own deep connection with the natural world, she has always sought to understand the unique connection people have with plants, particularly medicinal plants.
Upon the completion of her graduate program in Education, she made her way to Colorado to study with Paul Bergner at the North American Institute of Medical Herbalism and has been joyfully traveling the road of herbal medicine ever since.
Holistic Healing Work
Catie is a vitalist at heart, yearning to understand and help others to discover and work with the deepest roots of imbalance, whether they be emotional, physical or spiritual, or all three. Her sessions are educational in nature, meeting the whole person where they presently are and where they have been while guiding them to where they would like to be in themselves and the world. She offers Flower Essence Therapy as a modality for emotional, psychological and spiritual evolution and healing in conjunction with other therapeutic herbal, dietary, and lifestyle change protocols.
She is a strong advocate for homeopathy as a deeply healing modality. Although she does not offer psychological, emotional or spiritual support in a formal way, she loves regularly makes recommendations to help clients receive all the support needed to reach their goals.
She loves to teach, not only to share what she has learned from the plants and so many wonderful human teachers but for all the learning and growth that it brings to her.
Inspired by her own healing journey, Catie specializes in guiding her clients through food intolerance identification and healing, digestive health, skin issues, and emotional support and balance, among many chronic and acute conditions.
